We barely had a plane ticket to Kathmandu, where we had to meet with Mr. Silwal from Frendship Nepal Tours. The trip started in Kathmandu, and then went onto Tibet, to finally end up again in Kathmandu after a 6 day landcruiser trip through Tibet.

The first three days we visited Kathmandu, and the nearby cities of Patan and Bakhtapur. The visits were great and we even got a Spanish speaking local guide just for us !

Friendship Nepal did an excellent job working with my 21 year-old daughter and I to plan our trip to Nepal and Tibet taking into account our special requests and customizing the itinerary. Trekking on the Shivapuri trail in Nepal was a great experience with beautiful scenery and the good company of Ramesh and Raz our guide and porter respectively. Our only disappointment was that we didn't plan a longer trek !

Traveling to Tibet over land was a true adventure between mud-clogged mountain roads and the broad Tibetan plains. Gyalwa, our guide was passionate about his motherland and always eager to please while our driver proved to be wonderful entertainment as he sang for hours with music from the Landcruiser playing in the background. The two of them took care to show us sites off the beaten track including their home towns, even inviting us to spend an hour in the farmhouse of a relative to experience typical, generous Tibetan hospitality and drink a bottomless cup of yak butter milk tea. The sites and people of Tibet were a true joy to experience and Friendship Nepal did a good job of connecting us with native Tibetan guides that were competent and resourceful.

All of our time in Nepal and Tibet was great. We had a wonderful time. The transportation and drivers were fine, and, Lidong, our guide was the BEST. We loved him. He explained everything to us and showed us so much more than expected. There are so many good things to say about him. He was great! As for the hotels, we fully knew what to expect in advance so there was no problem there.

Our only problem happened when we left China. We took the train from Lhasa to Shanghai. We knew that we had to leave Shanghai the same day BUT we were never told that it was expected that we leave on the same flight. So my flight was scheduled to leave at 1225 and Debra's at 1740. We were going to different places after Shanghai........................Well this was a huge probelm with the group visa because you are only allowed to pass through immigration two hours before your flight so it was impossible for us to pass through at the same time. This caused us a big mess (which was eventually resolved). PLEASE inform your clients that it is expected that they leave on the same FLIGHT or on flights that depart within about a hour of one another.....not just on the same day.

We visited Nepal and Tibet last August. Friendship Nepal arranged a tour just for us and now we would like to thank Mr Silwal and the organization for the wonderful journey.

We saw marvellous places, from the jungle in Terai, to the Himalayan chain and the Kathmandu Valley. We had a chance to see the colourful Induist festivals and to meet people and speak with them. I'll always keep the feeling and the emotion of this special land in my heart.

Thanks again, we hope to come back soon in your wonderful country,
